So...

I'm going through CSI withdrawal.

You see, usually I watch the reruns on SpikeTV, right? And I've been practically watching all of the episodes they air at 7, 8, and sometimes 9 PM because all of my usual programs [NCIS, Lost, Close to Home, NUMB3RS, etc.] are all on the holiday hiatus. These last fews weeks has pretty much been all CSI which is great because now I've probably seen over half of the series.

Well, unfortunately, TPTB at this particular station thought it wise to host 'the 008 days of 007'...or whatever they're calling it. And really, I like Bond movies as much as the average Jane but with commericals? Come on, man, don't they know movies suck on regular TV? Not to mention, James Bond marathon vs. CSI? No contest! So yeah....I said to my dad at like 4 PM on Monday that I was already having withdrawal just by knowing it's not going to be on. +whimper+

My only highlight of this week will be the fact that since I wasn't a complete CSI Junkie at the beginning of this season I was watching Night Stalker instead, which means that 'Shooting Stars' will be new to me tonight. Of course, I liked NS but they've cancelled it, which also sucks. But really, what was ABC thinking, putting it at the same time as CSI? +le sigh+

What's really interesting is my favourite pairing for CSI. Now, usually I lean towards slash pairings but I'm a bitextual [and bisexual] babe so I like reading the het side of the force as well. Also gen...pretty much anything that is well written and has one of my favourite characters I'll give a shot, I'm not picky. So, anyways, Greg is my favourite character on CSI and I do like Greg/Nick a lot. They have a pretty good size following and some really good authors but for some reason or another my all time favourite pair is het; the pairing of Greg/Sara.

SLynn [FFN | LJ] had something to do with this, I'm sure.

My problem is that I'm really kind of nervous because being a slasher one knows more times then not that their fav. pairing will most likely never happen. But...well Greg has pretty much always flirted with Sara and Season 5 had some great moments between the two of them. You can tell they are becoming better friends but at the same time unless TPTB of CSI are trying to throw us off with some red herrings they are still going the way of GSR [Grissom/Sara for those that don't know].

And it's not that I don't like Grissom, I do, but Sara told him in PWF that if he didn't figure out what to do about them fast enough it might be too late. I just think it should already be too late because that was three seasons ago and she should just move on already; it isn't very fair to Sara to have her still hanging on. I mean, I can imagine it'd be hard[er] to get over someone you saw a lot because you work with them but really.

And well I think Greg is really good for her; he makes her smile and laugh. Also, he asks after her and you can tell he really cares for her.

I just don't want to get my hopes up, you know?

So, since I'm not going anywhere for New Years I have some catching up to do, both online and with various TV Shows. I have 3-4 episodes of Supernatural to watch because my dad DVR'd them and I said I would. The last episode of Atlantis I watched was 'The Hive' although I have the rest, at least I think I do...'Michael' hasn't come on yet, has it? But anyways, I need to watch that and also, I need to start transferring stuff off the DVR before Monday because everything is restarting again and we will be recording up to eleven hours a week, if not more. Six of those hours will be on Friday, thank the gods that SciFi Friday plays twice, I'll be recording it the later cycle.

And with LJ I plan on going through y'alls LJs at least one page...it depends, I mean if someone's LJ only has ten entries per page then I'll go through another one, you know? I may or may not comment on older entries...I usually don't but who knows? +shrugs+ Then of course I have all of my Comms to go through and all of the fanfic I've missed...thank gods for sga_newsletter, I'll be able to find most of the SGA related stuff I've missed there.

If I've missed anyone's birthdays then I want to make a blanket statement and wish a belated birthday! I'm pretty sure I caught everyone who wished me one [at least on Dec. 5, if you wished me a belated one I probably missed it...] but if not, knock me aside the head, okay? +grins+

I'd wish everyone a Happy Holidays but frankly mine have pretty much sucked so....bah, humbug! +snerk+

Okay so I went to to the movies last night and I could only wish that I went last week so I could be saying that I went to go see this movie again instead of for the first time.

Come on, y'all know which movie I'm talking 'bout. +grins+

So, wow. Where do I start? Well, first off I knew some of the stuff that was going to happen [read: Wash] because I'm a spoiler h0r and I read some of the entries that came out with the summer screenings. But I'm guessing I either don't remember reading it or it was never said but there was this pause inbetween all of the 'I'm a leaf in the wind' and him getting, you know, skewered. So even though I knew and could figure out when he was going to die I still jumped and was really, really sad because I loved Wash, man. At least it was quick. +nods+

Anyways, I'm getting ahead of myself. The breakout was neat. To see some of the lengths that Simon went through to get his sister out of there was great. The whole get up was great and, dude, I so want that pulse weapon he used. The first scene with The Operative was interesting, it's quite obvious he had a more 'chinese' upbringing.

You know, even though Wash and Book are dead it'd still be interesting to see a continuing series after Serenity, or at the very least another movie. And if Joss wanted to I think he could re-incorporate the Hands of Blue/Blue Sun subplot and make it work. That would be easier to do with a Series though because then River wouldn't always be the focus that way [if they made another movie with that subplot brought in then she'd be the 'main' character again, not that there is anything wrong with that to me. +shrugs+]...

I think my favourite part was when Simon confronted Mal. OMG, I am so going to buy that movie the day it comes out on DVD and make screencaps for icons. Because, wow, I'm all for Mal/Simon and did that ever hit the spot. What with all the profile shots and them staring right at one another. Guh.

Of course I'm also a Simon/Kaylee, Mal/Inara shipper so I'm happy regardless. +grins+

I really liked the fact that for all of his complaining it does seem that Jayne does really see Simon and River as a part of the 'family', now.

I loved the hovercraft scene and hell, I love the whole heist scene before that with River pointing out and Jayne giving the password. Then with River telling them about the Reavers and then Zoe crash landing into Serenity. And of course River's 'I swallowed a bug' [everyone chuckled at that, and it wasn't the first or last time people laughed] and then Simon slugs Mal, that was great.

I loved all of the scenes that had River kicking arse, of course. The bar scene was great, especially when Jayne tried to stop her [kind of] gently-like and she kicked his ass. Then of course Mal trying to get his gun and River and him in a staredown then Simon calmly said the safe words. Hee.

Then there was Mal picking her up and taking her back to the ship. That's when I thought that even without Kaylee saying anything I don't think he was going to let them leave.

Let's see, Simon and River's 'Miranda' convo...it's just ain't right if River doesn't give her brother the "you're kidding, right?" look. +grins+ I think he knew it was stupid before he even asked, honestly, he just couldn't not ask, you know?

I think someone mentioned that maybe River 'influenced' Jayne to open the pantry and I'd like to think they were right about that.

I really, truly love all of the main characters of Firefly. That being said Book is probably the one that hits the radar the least, with me. But I still loved all of his scenes and wow, was his death a powerful one or what? With Mal trying his best not to lose it but doing so anyways and Book telling him that he didn't care what he believed in as long as he believed in something. That was just, wow.

And then to find out that The Operative hit all of the people that gave them safe harbour. Gods, talk about ruthless. I was really sad when he killed Mr. Universe, because he was cool. Not to mention determined...it's not everyday that a guy crawls a good few yards to leave a message. And yeah, I guess technically he did betray the crew of Serenity but Mal was expecting the Alliance to be there regardless! Which made that Space battle/race for the planet so much cooler, because wow, the Alliance against the Reavers.

Of course then there is Miranda, which was just freaky as hell. A whole world, gone. Also? It seemed to be a technological world...was it a part of the border planets? I'm asking because usually Technologically Advanced =/= Border Planet but at the same time one would think that if Miranda was near the Core that the Reavers would of definitely been more well known. Not to mention that secret would of been hell to keep. Hmmmm....+ponders+

I'm not forgetting Inara, I think she was pretty cool in this too. Definitely in the scene with her and Mal and The Operative. +nods+ She kept on trying even though this guy was better at fighting then the both of them and then the flash bomb insense was just perfect! Of course, then there was all of the Mal/Inara tension moreso in the forefront then in there series.

Of course then there was the whole Kaylee/Simon part where Kaylee is like "We're going to die" and Simon goes "If I have one regret" and then Kaylee "Fuck this, I'm going to live!" I loved that. +smiles+

And, of course, Zoe...poor, lovely, Zoe. She's such a strong character, which is why I love her. What a heartbreaking scene though. You know, I think that's one [of many, admittedly] of the reasons why I love Joss, because he knows how to make his female characters strong but still give them their humanity regardless. The way she just shut down and didn't care if she survived that last fight was breathtaking.

Then ending was really nice, with the memorial for Wash, Book, and Mr. Universe and then watching everyone put the ship back together. Especially the part where Kaylee and Simon decided to take a break...with River peeking from above. Heeee. +grins+

I really do think that this whole movie was very much about River and Mal from Mal's "Little One" to the ending where River wanted Mal to talk even though she knew what he was going to say. Also, I think she'd make a great pilot, you know?

In other news, I'm really, really glad that I decided to give Ghost Whisperer a chance after all. Not only because it's a pretty good series but also because whilst watching TV earlier tonight I just realized who's playing the 'ghost' of this weeks' episode....

Out of all the time I've watched Battlestar Galactica I only got one plotbunny out of it. And it's a plotbunny that slightly [one plot point, really] based on something that will happen in tonight's episode, which is why I'm going to talk about it under a lj-cut. That way I can keep track of the fact that, yes, I did think that up before I knew about what's happening tonight. I thought it up before the second season even started actually. +grins+

First, I need to state something, and that is that I've never actually watched the original series. But I did get the 411 from both my father and the lovely shetiger so I knew that I wasn't completely bonkers.

This plotbunny was something that grew from the fact that A.) Athena was no where to be found, and B.) It'd be wicked cool to get the Battlestar Pegasus to show up.

And that morphed into giving Athena a completely different background [considering the fact that unless my sources are incorrect --which I do so doubt-- Dee = Athena, pretty much], one which I won't get into because I'm on a time crunch.

That and I don't have her personality completely figured out and some of the background is still fuzzy [because of laziness, really....I could of written this sucker ages ago!]

But I have one scene in my head and that's when the Pegasus shows up at a time where the Galactica's squad of Vipers are in battle with the Cylons and then launches it's vipers, and Athena [who I named Skylar in my head, since she needs a real name like Lee and Kara, etc.] is in one of the vipers.

There's more to that but, again, time crunch [dinner time!].

Oh, and before I forget....I'm not just a slasher but also a femslasher and I was going to make it Starbuck/Athena [Kara/Skylar].

I may or may not actually decide to write this at a later time as an AU, it really depends on what happens in this episode and if anyone is interested. +shrugs+ Although if I do, Admiral Cain is so going to be a woman, because that kicks ass.

Also, Battlestar Galactica

Okay so the Boomer2 with the gun scene? Went exactly how I thought it would. I think if they didn't give away [paraphrasing] 'I'll take the father, you take the son' in the preview I might not have figured it out but, really, I knew who she was talking to. That and it would have been really weird/stupid to have the old man get shot by a Boomer twice. So yeah, easy to figure out.

I think she did it right though, it was a good way to have the others realize that she wasn't the same as Boomer1. She has Helo on her side and [grudgingly like] Starbuck too...I think Apollo is wary of her now, it will be interesting to see interactions between the two of them. Oh! And the Chief, that would be interesting.

The scene with six-as-starbuck were excellent. Did TH actually sit down with KS until she had Starbuck's mannerisms down or what? I mean, dang, she even had her vocal affectations in there, it was almost like hearing Starbuck talk.

Also, the scene with the map was really, really neat. +nods+ I loved how the 'map' was done, it was beautiful.

Firefly

-- I remember seeing Simon/River shippers out there and I have nothing against that, I just don't remember ever thinking the first time I saw Firefly about the two of them that way. This episode? Made me see it. +snerk+ Seriously though, I don't even remember if this episode was a part of the original showing or not, but I liked it all the same.

-- I now see where someone --or a group of people, since I don't know if this is a wide spread theory or not-- could think Book is like really high up in the Alliance's chain, instead of being who he says he is. Hmmm.....interesting thoughts, that.

-- Also? Simon can punch mighty decent for someone who probably never had to before. +grins+

-- I love River, really. She's great.

-- One more thing, why are those settlers following the KJV of the bible? Really now, if they were following one of the versions before that then that nurse/teacher would of known that you aren't suppose to suffer a poisoner to live, not a witch. +le sigh+ And honestly, unless River was serious about those berries being toxic then they would of had nothing to worry about. Like she'd really poison her brother anyways. Psshaw.

SG-1

-- Hee! Sam is almost as bad as Daniel with all of the things she has in her lab. +grins+

-- I liked that they brought back that one guy from the NID...too bad he won't have a chance with Sam.

-- I loved the scene with Cameron giving everyone their badges, that was great. Also, it helped me with my theory that the badges in Atlantis come off and the black patch you see on offworld missions is the other side of the velcro. +nods+

-- I loved that they beamed the whole building into space. I never really thought about the beams working on anything bigger than a person really, although it certainly makes sense.

-- How weird was it to listen to Ba'als' human voice?

-- Speaking of Ba'al, he ain't dead, that was just his CLONE! AND HE HAS THREE OTHER CLONES! AND CAN PROBABLY MAKE MORE! OMFG, we'll never be rid of him. YAY! +BG+

Atlantis

-- Hey, Rodney can be polite to the villiagers....at least when he wants to know something. +lol+

-- Why is it that Rodney attracts kids? I mean really, do they just sense that he dislikes children and thus have to annoy him?

-- I loved that scene where Ronon goes [paraphrasing] 'and I can hear really well' and then John slaps Rodney upside the head! Hee! Also, wow, because Rodney wasn't being particularly loud when he was talking to John and Ronon was a bit of a distance away.

-- I didn't really connect that the guy who was taking care of Kaylee!Wraith was the son of the other villager but I did get the sense early on that he was definitely older looking than his true age.

-- Did anyone get what Rodney said in response to Carson saying [again, paraphrasing] 'Why didn't you use the radio?' because I missed it.

-- Am I the only one who thought it mighty interesting that Rodney had his gun out and yet Carson, even knowing Kaylee!Wraith could be dangerous, didn't have his out until he needed it? It's amazing on what a subtle difference can show, isn't it? Hmmmm....+ponders+

-- I really liked that little scene with Ronon and Teyla about orders. And hey, I seriously doubt that John is going to mind much, considering that Ronon saved his life and all. +grins+

-- So how many of you are disappointed that they didn't show anything doing with Rodney and any consequences of last weeks' episode? How many of you think that Condemned was really suppose to be after Trinity and they decided to swap them at the last minute?

-- One more thing, as much as I love myself a SG-1 mini-marathon, I am really wishing that I didn't have to wait two weeks for Conversion, damnit. Although the fact that it looks like Window of Opportunity [aka 'the Groundhog Day episode'] is one of the episodes does help a bit. +nods+

Whee, overall a very good SciFi Friday! +grins+ This is going to be somewhat brief because I'm on a time crunch. I'm planning on watching Galactica later on tonight, I missed a part of it earlier. So I might do a separate post later on. +shrugs+

So without further ado:

FIREFLY

I was waiting for this episode to come up, I just love Kaylee in it. The dress [as tacky as it is], getting rescued by that old guy from the bitch squad, talking about different types of ships and their engines. Oh and when she went back to her quarters and sat their admiring her dress. +g+ She's a doll, really. +nods+

I also liked River and her english accent...which I can't remember what it's called, dangit. Someone help a girl out? +smiles+ I liked that Simon was just as dedicated to figuring out a way to get Mal out as everyone else was.

Inara is really beautiful, but we all knew that. +grins+

SG-1

I just want to take this time to say that Vala isn't dead, damnit. She's in the Ori's galaxy and she's going to start a resistance, much better than the one we saw in Avalon Pt. 2 and Origin. Then one day she's going to find another one of those communication devices, transfer to some guys' [Mitchell? Hmmmmm...+wicked smile+] body and the first thing she's going to do when she sees Daniel is kiss him.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it until we are shown otherwise. +nods+

Anyways, this was a cool episode. We have Sam back, so yay! And I just love the fact that the Ori went through doing all of that and the plan still failed. That was great. +g+

Was I the only one who thought that what was shooting out of the Stargate was Puddle Jumpers? Or, at least the Ori's version of them. Which in turn makes me wonder what their ships and such will look like. Hmmm...+ponders+

ATLANTIS

Wow, that hurt....but in a mostly good way. I've been thinking for a while now that Rodney needed to screw up because it was going to have to happen sometime, you know? It makes for character growth and for us to see a side that we don't see often, or rather, haven't seen since before Atlantis began.

But other than that, I loved Rodney's excitement at the beginning and the way it was so infectious that John could help be excited as well. Oh and how Rodney kind of sorta believes John will get what he's saying, at least most of the time. Rodney's emotions in the meeting after the test run and the speech/plea he made to John about Collins was really well acted but this is DH we are talking about so. +lol+

Oh! I almost forgot, everything to do with Ronon and Teyla was very, very cool. I cringed when Ronon did the knife thing because that is not how you negotiate. Seeing his old friend and then when Teyla helped him to his room and how he was kind of holding back/masking his emotions in knowing that 300 of his people are alive. I knew that this episode was going to give some backstory on him and I really liked what we got. Also, I loved when he shot the guy and I loved how Teyla slammed him against the wall with a knife to his throat and told him flat out that she would not be as understanding if he used her like that again. Go Teyla! +grins+

My favourite part though? When Teyla and Ronon come back through the gate and you can hear Elizabeth REAMING OUT Rodney. +G+ That was fabulous!

I loved Rodney's apology to John and how hearfelt it was. I'm also very glad that John gave Rodney --and us-- that little, I don't know what to call it, but you know, when he kind of implied to Rodney that with time he'd get over what happened at the end of the episode. +smiles+

ETA: I just wanted to add that this is all first impressions and that I obviously will have to repeatedly watch these episodes. Such a hardship, let me tell you. +happy sigh+

SciFi Friday

Just some observations, really. I haven't watched Battlestar Galactica yet because I'm behind in watching the episodes. +winces+ It's not that I don't absolutely love BSG, it's just that it seems these days that I can't really watch more than three hours of tv at a time before I have to get on my computer. +lol+ So yes, I now have three episodes of BSG to watch but that will probably not happen until after this weekend. +shrugs+ So, without further ado:

Firefly

You know, it's amazing what one forgets between watching Firefly the first time it was on tv and now. Unfortunately, I don't have the DVD set, although I hope to buy it sometime soon. I like how Simon holds his own against Jayne, even if he doesn't have a zinger right away he does get him back, repeatedly. +lol+ I'm really thinking that if I start to actually go looking for fanfic that I might lean towards Mal/Simon because they are really interesting with each other, aren't they?

I remember being completely happy with Simon/Kaylee and Mal/Inara the first time around and I still am, but the idea of the above and Inara/Kaylee has merit as well.

I think my favorite scenes to this episode are when Simon and River are hiding outside of the ship and then later on when Mal was with the Alliance and saw the two of the in the corridor. +grins+

SG-1

Wow, this was an interesting episode. I liked Vala, as usual...I think I'm going to be sad when we see her go, although I'm going to hazard a guess and figure we'll see her again. It was interesting, seeing her emotions while watching the people who she has come to know slowly weaken. I kind of wished we got to see her reaction to seeing that main guy coming back to life. +shrugs+

Oh, also, I just knew that Mitchell was infected when he wasn't apart of that meeting with Dr. Lam....although I'd like to know why the others didn't get sick. I get Teal'c, because if this 'plague' was similar to the one that happened in Antartica well he didn't get sick then either because he's a Jaffa, iirc. But Vala and Daniel, I would think, should of gotten sick. Because, again iirc, Sam got sick in Antartica and she's like Vala in the way that she had a symbiote before, which allows her to control the healing device.

Veeeery interesting, me thinks. Don't know if we'll ever be told though. It could be that the Prior wanted both of them to suffer by watching others suffer. +shrugs+

Atlantis

Oh wow, I loved this episode. +nods+ No one was over the top and when John tried to break that branch? That was funny and made me wince in sympathy pain. +lol+ I loved Rodney in this, especially his comments about the death penalty. And whoa, that Prisoner Leader Dude really had his number, didn't he? There were also some good John and Rodney moments and looks, which I'm really glad for.

I'm still liking Ronon [Ronan?] and Teyla was cool, as was Major Lorne. And Elizabeth kicked arse in this one! I've always loved her but man, whoever wrote this episode did a good job.

I wonder if we'll see that Mousy Science Prisoner Guy again? Since he got to go to Atlantis and all for helping. Speaking of going to Atlantis, daaaang, if Ronon and Rodney jumped through the 'gate just a second later....ouch.

Oh and John actually called Ronon 'Chewie'! +lol+ I wasn't expecting that.

Also, I'm wondering how they are going to do the whole Rodney & Ronon thing....I remember hearing that they won't really like each other --they both seem the type not to suffer fools gladly and probably see one another as fools-- but at the same time they are still decent team mates when they need to be, which I think is great.

One more thing....I'm thinking I might go with Ronan after all because each time I try to type 'Ronon' my fingers don't want to stop and I get variants of 'Ronono' or 'Ronononon', even. +snort+
